Interior design concept for Giddy Sloth Coffee, the first step in an ambitious venture to introduce premium Costa Rican coffee beans to Seattle. The project envisions a cosy café offering a variety of coffee-based drinks alongside traditional Costa Rican pastries, creating a warm and welcoming space designed for both locals and families.

The challenge
Designing a café environment that reflects the authenticity of Costa Rican coffee culture while adapting the existing structure into a functional, durable and welcoming hospitality space.
Design solution
• Preservation of the original architectural character
• Use of raw materials to emphasise authenticity and texture
• Warm, handcrafted elements to create a cosy and inviting atmosphere
• Functional layout designed for customer comfort and efficient service flow

• Polished cement surfaces
• Exposed brick
• Iron structural and decorative elements
• Handcrafted wood finishes
• Durable textiles suitable for hospitality spaces
• Non-porous surfaces for hygiene and maintenance
Result
A warm and characterful café concept that balances raw architectural elements with handcrafted details, creating an inviting environment that celebrates Costa Rican coffee culture while offering comfort and functionality for everyday use.

•Creating an architectural character from zero
• Use of natural wood to emphasise high end finishes
• Warm, handcrafted elements to create a cosy and inviting atmosphere
• Functional layout designed for customer comfort and efficient service flow
Materials
• “Ratan”and leather for furniture
• Exposed brick
• Stone floor
• FSC – certified oiled oak
• Stucco and natural stone
• Non-porous surfaces for hygiene and maintenance
Result
A high-end-style café to enjoy five minutes of silence while enjoying a premium coffee and the truly “Costarican experience”.
